Throughout 2022 the HAZ project has been busy.

  • Work to Church Approach is nearly complete and the terraced seating and garden area will be opening soon.
  • We have moved from consultation into construction with to the Market and surrounding Lokes starting shortly. Find out more about the planned improvement here
  • Our cultural programme is well underway and we have been delivering a range of exciting projects and events. Click here to find out more and get involved.  
  • The Cedars building is well on the way to completion and we hope to have new tenants moving in in the Autumn.
  • Buildings are beginning to be regenerated through the Building Improvement Grant and previously unused spaces being brought back into use.

Bus Interchange now open

The new North Walsham Travel Hub on New Road was opened on 1st August and new bus stops are now in use. 

Representatives from the Royal National Institute of Blind People and Vision Norfolk met with NNDC and NCC to see the new travel hub, and to chat about the accessible features in place for visually impaired bus users.

The Hare is Back!

After a short staycation in the Vicarage street compound Lupus,  the North Walsham hare is back sitting proudly on Church approach, welcoming visitors to the town.  The area around the hare will planted shortly giving him his own private garden to watch over the town form.

Join artist Gary Drostle at the North Walsham Street Feast this Sat 20th Aug. He will be asking for your ideas and input as he starts the journey to creating an new mosaic for North Walsham.

What's the HAZ all about?

North Walsham's High Street Heritage Action Zone is a full scale multi million pound regeneration project. 

It has 3 main strands. The large capital works going on throughout the town, the Building Improvement Grant (refurbishing and renovating historic buildings) and the Arts and Culture Programme of activities and events.
